Cut Span

Refer: Span

The CUT SPAN is a measurement that is done on an already-drilled bowling ball.  This is measured from the thumb to the OD cut for the inserts.  This measurement is useful to the ball driller for later purposes, ex: a client has stock of grips at home and simply wants 3 holes in the ball and will glue his own grips at home.  Another prime example of this is on the PBA tour, players have to provide CUT Spans to the player services truck and it is their responsibility to add in any type of insert into the ball.
